Steven A. Goldberg
Steve Goldberg became a CPA in 1973 and has practiced public accounting in South Bend since 1974. He has strong ties with the Michiana area, having grown up in South Bend and graduated from Riley High School. He received his BS in Industrial Management from the Krannert School of Business at Purdue University and an MBA in Finance from Indiana University, Bloomington.
Steve began his accounting career with Arthur Andersen in Chicago, Illinois and worked on large audits throughout the Midwest. In 1974 he returned to South Bend and began practicing with McGladrey and Pullen. He became a partner in 1980.
Steve left McGladrey in 1990 to start his own business. Since returning to Michiana Steve has concentrated on helping small businesses and individuals minimize taxes and build wealth.
Steve has been involved in the Peer Review program instituted by the accounting profession in 1990 to monitor CPA practices. He has worked on peer reviews in California, Ohio and Indiana and currently serves as a technical reviewer for the Ohio Society of CPAs. Steve has also served as a bankruptcy trustee, helping businesses maintain a positive net balance while managing all of their legal and tax matters.
Lora Stull
Lora Stull has helped the firm grow with her in-depth accounting, tax and business experience. She specializes in services for small businesses including bookkeeping, payroll and compliance with all tax laws. In addition to her tax experience, Lora is extremely qualified with the QuickBooks Accounting Software. She assists clients in effectively utilizing it in their own businesses and by providing bookkeeping and payroll services for them. Lora also helps businesses with a wide range of QuickBooks related services including set up, trouble shooting and providing advanced uses of the software.
Laura C. Guentert
Laura possesses a vast knowledge of the U. S. Federal, state and Canadian tax laws. At Steven A. Goldberg, CPA, she specializes in the preparation of individual tax returns and works on Federal and state tax returns for business clients. Laura is proficient in Word, Excel spread sheets, Quicken® and UltraTax programs, Payroll, Fixed Asset Maintenance, Bookkeeping and Property taxes. She also answers the myriad of research and tax questions posed by clients. Laura is a 1982 graduate of Saint Mary's College and since 1997, has given back to her community by volunteering at Notre Dame's Mendoza College of Business Tax Assistance Program and offering tax assistance to low-income individuals.
Karen Austin
Karen Austin is the company's newest employee and an accounting graduate of Indiana University South Bend. At Steven A. Goldberg, CPA, she specializes in tax returns, bookkeeping and payroll. Karen has been treasurer of the St. Bavo Conference of the St. Vincent De Paul Society since 2004. She was on the Dean's List, a member of Who's Who in American Universities and has worked as a bookkeeper at several local businesses. Karen volunteers for the Mendoza College of Business Tax Assistance Program preparing tax returns for low-income individuals.
